The DASH Diet and the New MyPyramid

MyPyramid follows the eating pattern that was developed by the National Institutes of Health, and is known as the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension). This eating plan is rich in fruits, vegetables, low fat or nonfat dairy, and includes lean meats, fish and poultry; grains, nuts and beans. It will help lower blood pressure and cholesterol and supports healthy weight loss. It is flexible enough to meet the lifestyle and food preferences of most people.
